Not feeling too good todayI am feeling really awful this morning (no it's not drink I don't) Have a fuzzy head, blocked nose and have just been sick, it looks like flu, unfortunately I can't afford to be ill, we have people coming to replace our windows a week come monday and have to clear everything away, an easy task you might think but my craft desk which is piled high with goodness knows what is right in front of the window, and the rest of the room is just about inaccessible so the whole room has to be sorted and emptied so they can get in, the rest of the renovations which will take about 6 weeks is starting straight after the windows, so it will be complete and utter chaos. They will be changing the internal doors, changing the plug sockets from single to double, changing the bathroom, and kitchen also they are putting in something to do with digital TV so they have to dig out a channel in the wall and then replaster it, we have to lift carpets, pack all stuff away from the living room, kitchen and bathroom and all this in a flat that is packed to the rafters with stuff, my OH and I and 3 cats. I wish I could move out and let them get on with it but have been advised by various people not to let them loose when you're not in or things go missing, so all in all am going to be rather fed up and probably quite sick by the time they've finished and then we will have to clear up the mess they leave which is supposed to be quite bad, sand and dust everywhere for about 2 months as you can't get rid of it, bungs up the vaccuum cleaner so it will have to be done by hand.

Re: Not feeling too good todayHi Sue,
Sorry you are not feeling well today. The renovations will be a big upheaval but try to think long term about how much better it will be for you when it's all finished. If it goes to your timetable you should be spick and span by Christmas. Bet the cats won't like it though !!! Hope you feel better soon Maxine xx I am a woman of many moods, And they all require chocolate
Re: Not feeling too good todayThanks Maxine, Phil is feeling a bit unwell also, so it must be something going round, the cats will have to go up his mum's whilst some of the work is going on as they aren't outside cats. I doubt that we will be sorted for Christmas as there will be decorating to do and a new floor to buy and get laid, so the work will just go on and on. Sue xxx
Re: Not feeling too good todayhey susie
at least yours is being started mine hasnt i got the appointment for the preplanning, i took the day off work and by 2 o clock they still hadnrt arrived, phoned the contractors to be told i was no longer on the list as someone had informed them that all the houses on my road had been done by the previous contractors last year, yes 3 houses on my block got done but not mine, i got in touch with the council and they said as far as they knew i was still on the list, three days of phoning the contractors and council resolved nothing but the same sentence from both sides, this is the first i have heard of it, leave it with me and i will get back to you. i then got a letter from the contactors telling me i had gone back on the list with another preplan appointment, i cancelled the appointment as i said i was NOT losing another days pay, told them the date that i finished for the summer hols and my return date to work , said you have a 6 week period where you can arrange the preplan, nothing happened untill the friday before i was due back in work on the monday, got a letter with a date of the 3rd of sept, i soon phoned them and cancelled and guess what, the preplanners turned up and left a note through the door, so another phonecall and it was the same person i spoke to when i cancelledc he assured me he informed the relevent people and has no idea why they still turned up, told him no appointments for the next 7 weeks, cant see this happening as they are supposed to be finishing the contract in october and it will probably be another company next year. by the way we are not getting new internal doors in our refurb we get kitchen bathroom new electric wiring the kitchen and bathroom get painted by the contractors and they leave paint paper and paste and brushes with you to do the rest yourself.
Re: Not feeling too good todayOh dear what a farce, ours are just as bad they haven't even measured our kitchen yet, or given us boxes to pack stuff up. They expect you to put your life on hold, make a mess cost you money to redecorate and then have the audacity to charge you more rent cos they have improved it. Beggars belief, when you are a council tenant you seem to be a second class citizen, they can walk in your home and leave doors open tramp dirty boots all over without a by or leave, this is the first time I have been a tenant, in my first marriage we always had our own house and when anyone came to do anything they knocked, not when they are council they just come in the garden and measure the windows up without warning, gave me a dreadful shock, what if I had been undressed or something, they don't care I think it's scandalous the lack of respect, it's your home just because they own the house doesn't mean that they have the right to come and go as they please without a by or leave. xx
Re: Not feeling too good todaytoo right susie
im paying the same rent as next door which is my son and daughter in laws they were renovated last year, they were able to claim compensation for damage but now you apparantly have to sign not to do this with this years renovations, a freind told me the planner gives you something to read and sign but gets you to plan your kitchen at the same time, told her no way will i fall for that one and i wont be signing anything i dont like in the contract.
Re: Not feeling too good todayHaven't been asked to sign anything as yet but maybe when they get their a*ses into gear, but thks Tracy forewarned is forearmed xx
