Rozzy suggested that I write again and tell you about the visit to my friend on Sunday, Well the surprise went off very well, I called her first thing on Sunday morning and sang Happy Birthday over the phone (Not a pleasent experience for anyone)
we laughed because that is what we always do
(Sing I mean, and to think of it Laugh as well) and I asked if she was doing anything for her big day, she said that she was going out for lunch with the family and I asked where? then Ken had a word whith her and he did the same so she had no idea that we would be there.It's nearly a 3hr trip so we arrived at about 12 45pm they were all due at 1,O-clock I was just ordering a prelunch sherry when in she walked so I said "
make that two" ( that's one of our personal jokes also )she flung her arms around me
and said What are you doing here???????" she then hugged Ken
and we went into our usual easy way with each other, We had a lovely lunch Margaret and I both had a few glasses of red wine
but not to much!!! we sat together at the head of the table and we talked a lot!! she kept saying what a wonderful day she was having and how lovely it was of us to surprise her. I can't tell you how lovely it was, it's one of those things you do on the spure of the moment and wonder if it's the right thing, it was! Margaret was so happy and it made me feel good to know that we are still the little girls that met over the garden gate all those years ago.
